For Project #2, my idea on how to approach this project is to create a soundscape based around my own daily activities. I want to demonstrate what I go through on an average weekday from waking up in the morning and having my breakfast to heading to classes, chatting with friends, attending lectures, and so on. With the amount of sounds that are already provided in the classes google drive, it should be no problem finding basic ambient noises to be able to layer sounds on top of each other to make the soundscape feel more real and alive. I could layer sounds by having distant chatter, foot steps, birds chirping, possible sounds of wind blowing trees. Given the length of this project being 4 minutes and 33 seconds. I want to try and fill all that time with as much sound as possible. I want to be careful in how I do layer the sounds or else my project with turn into a loud mess of sounds. I have already uploaded some classroom lecture hall sounds myself into the google drive so I can easily make use of those. The quiet, focused environment of the classroom with the subtle, ambient noise of pencil on paper can occasionally be broken by a distant cough or the drop of a water bottle. I feel this would show a lot of similarities to John Cage's 4'33 by using the ambient sounds around him to move the piece along. This quietness can be largely contrasted by the noisy, bustling hallways of lecture halls.
I want to be able to capture these types of scenarios through the use of only sound.
Coffee brewing on an early morning
A walk through a pleasant park
A college dining hall
A focused lecture hall.
Chatting with friends and classmates.
